WMPN
Staff
The Wichita Mountains Prevention Network is an innovative
organization with high employee retention and exceptional
training opportunities. The Executive, Programs and Project
Directors and Program Coordinators are Nationally Certified
Prevention Specialists. Our staff have a combined 45 years
of experience in the prevention field. They
have attended over 40 national conferences in the prevention and treatment
arena and the Programs Director completed a fellowship through the Harvard
School of Public Health. Our staff receive recognition on a state and
national level.
Cultural
Capabilities and Competence of Staff
Cultural
competency is another area where WMPN is a proven leader. Three staff
members are cultural competency certified trainers in Vision of the Quilt.
Our staff is a diverse group of excellent people dedicated to improving
the lives of southwest Oklahoma. All staff receive Cultural Competency
training annually; new employees receive this as part of their orientation
process.
WMPN
has a history of providing services to under-served and minority populations
in southwest Oklahoma. In addition to targeting minority and low-income
populations for services, including these groups in community planning
and leadership opportunities has always been a priority. Southwest Oklahoma
has many people where English is their second language. WMPN uses translators,
when needed, to work with specific groups where language or hearing
impairment will be a barrier to understanding. Our Prevention staff is
trained in providing age appropriate information as well as techniques
to best communicate with different cultural groups and economic groups.
