Region 10 Priorities

What is a Block Grant?

A block grant is a non-competitive, formula grant mandated by the U.S. Congress. Eligible entities must submit an annual application to demonstrate statutory and regulatory compliance in order to receive the formula-based funding. Wichita Mountain Prevention Network utilizes these block grants to:

‚Äč

  • Fund primary prevention by providing universal, selective, and indicated prevention activities and services for persons not identified as needing treatment.

  • Collect performance and outcome data to determine the ongoing effectiveness of behavioral health promotion, treatment, and recovery support services.

 

This Grant allows Region 10 to focus on the following priorities:

 

Regional Prevention Coordinator 10 Block Grant: Non-medical Use of Prescription Drugs ages 26+ (Carter County)

  • Prescription Take-Back Events (TBE)

  • Educating the community on safe storage and disposal of prescription medications

 

Regional Prevention Coordinator 10 Alcohol Enforcement Plan: Adult Binge Drinking ages 21+ (Bryan County)

  • Responsible Beverage Service and Sales (RBSS) Training

  • Alcohol Compliance Checks (ACC)

  • Bar Checks

 

Partnerships For Success: Non-medical Use of Prescription Drugs ages 12-25 (Carter and Bryan Counties)

  • Prescription Take-Back Events (TBE)

  • Educating the community on safe storage and disposal of prescription medications
