Oklahoma’s Social Host Law

Oklahoma HB 1211, also known as Cody’s Law (or, generically, the social host law), is a law that makes it illegal for anyone to provide a location for any individual under twenty-one to consume alcohol or any controlled dangerous substance.

Signed into law by Gov. Mary Fallin in 2011, the statute says that if minors are drinking on private property, the person who provides the location is a "social host" & can be held liable.

A "social host" can be an adult or minor, and need not be physically present or the actual property owner. Violations are punishable by fines of up to $2,500, a felony conviction, and time in prison if someone is injured or killed.
