Local Influencers
Assist with compliance checks
Compliance checks are conducted with local law enforcement, youth volunteers and local prevention coordinators. Alcohol and tobacco/vape compliance checks are performed to reduce the sale of alcohol and tobacco/vape to anyone under 21 by enforcing checking ID’s.
Undercover youth, under the supervision of law enforcement officers, attempt to purchase alcohol or tobacco/vape products from establishments that sell them.
In order to volunteer for alcohol or tobacco compliance checks, youth volunteers must:
-
Be between the ages of 16-19
-
Have a valid driver's license or identification
-
Clear a background check (No alcohol or substance related offenses)
-
Have parent's written permission if under 18
Earn community service hours
We provide graduation honor cords and a community service award to graduating seniors to recognize and show appreciation for their community service.
Requirements
In order to receive community service honor cords, students must have completed a minimum of 20 hours with one of our partner coalitions by May 1st of the year they are graduating. Students may complete community service hours over the course of their freshman, sophomore, junior and senior years.
Application
If you have served 20 hours or more and would like to receive community service honor cords, please complete the Google Form no later than COB on May 1st your graduating year.
Recognition and Receiving your Cords
If you attend school in-person, you will receive your award and honor cords during your school’s awards/scholarship ceremony. If you attend school virtually or prefer to pick them up, be sure to check that box on the Google Form.
In addition to receiving your certificate and honor cords, you will also receive recognition for your community service on social media and local news/media outlets, as well as a letter of recommendation from coalition leadership to be used for college and/or job applications.
