Carter County Prevention Coalition
About Us
Previously known as the Carter County Substance Abuse Prevention Committee, the coalition was established in 2008 as a subcommittee of a larger coalition to address substance use in Carter County.
After the larger coalition dissolved, CCSAPC continued. In 2023, we rebranded the coalition as the Carter County Prevention Coalition (CCPC) to better reflect our mission and the needs of our community.
Our Work
CCPC aims to provide prevention education and services to Carter County by collaborating with law enforcement agencies, businesses, schools, tribal entities, and civic organizations. We are currently funded through Community-Based Services grants from the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services to address the following substances:
-
Stimulants (Prescription and Illicit)
-
Marijuana
-
Alcohol
Voices of Hope: Overdose Awareness Event
Since 2018, CCPC, in collaboration with community partners, has set aside a day each year to memorialize those who have lost their lives to substance use. The Voices of Hope: Overdose Awareness Event provides an opportunity for residents to benefit from community support, and it provides valuable education on how to prevent substance misuse and abuse. The event offers a variety of vendor booths, free food, live music, local speakers, and a candle light vigil.
Membership
The Carter County Prevention Coalition meets on the first Wednesday of each month at 10:00 a.m. Our meetings are open to the public. Join us as we work towards a better tomorrow!
