COMMUNITY-BASED PREVENTION SERVICES COORDINATOR Comanche County

  • Lawton, OK 73501: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)

Willingness to travel:

  • 50% (Majority local)

Schedule

  • Monday to Friday (Regular office hours are M-F, 9:00 am-4:30 pm.)

  • Weekends as needed

JOB DESCRIPTION

The CBPS Coordinator will work with our Comanche County team on underage drinking prevention initiatives.
You will be involved in a variety of projects, such as media campaigns, community outreach, facilitating
meetings, and coalition recruitment, as well as be responsible for regular reporting and some administrative
duties. To succeed in this role, you will need exemplary communication skills, the ability to multitask, and
comfort working with various populations and cultures. WMPN provides ample opportunities for on-the-job
training and professional development, so a desire for learning and self-improvement is key. This position is grant-funded through the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services (ODMHSAS) and
will be based in the Lawton office.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Participate in weekly staff meetings

  • Create content for social media and paid media campaigns

  •  Shape the voice of the agency through drafting monthly press releases on prevention initiatives

  • Attend regular meetings of the Comanche County Community Coalition

  • Conduct one-on-one meetings with community leaders and coalition recruitment targets

  • Engage health disparate populations in prevention strategies

  • Take part in professional development webinars, prevention trainings, and grant-mandated educational conferences (with occasional overnights or weekends), as needed

  • Research best practices for reaching target populations.

  • Local travel to cities/towns within Comanche County as needed

  • Investigate laws, policies, and ordinances related to alcohol and assist with preparing policy language
    enhancements at the local level.

SKILLS

  • Have a passion for substance abuse prevention

  • Self-Motivated and detail-oriented

  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills

  • Comfortable with public speaking and group facilitation

  • Familiar with Microsoft Office Suite

  • Experience managing web content (preferred, but not required)

  • Knowledgeable about graphic design (preferred, but not required)

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Driver’s License and reliable transportation (required)

  • Must be able to pass a drug screening and background check (required)

  • Can reliably commute to or already living in Comanche County (required)

  •  Bachelor’s Degree (preferred)
